“Gentleman Dance Hosts” dance with Single ladies at Social Events that feature Ballroom and Salsa/Latin dancing.

Dance Hosts have a basic level knowledge of popular Club Salsa/Latin (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata), Ballroom (Foxtrot, Slow or English Waltz), and Latin American (Rumba, Cha-Cha, Jive/Swing) Dance Steps. As well as specialty styles such as Tango (International, Argentine), Samba, West Coast Swing, Country 2-Step and Viennese Waltz.

The most important qualities of a Gentleman Dance Host are:

• Professional, courteous and respectful demeanor
• Friendly conversationalist
• Love of different genres of music from Salsa/Latin to Big Band/Swing
• Pride in personal hygiene and grooming (including hair)
• Appropriate dress for Events, depending on the occasion (e.g., casual chic or formal)
  • Salsa/Latin Classes – Short or Long Sleeve Casual Shirts; T-Shirts (but “no” sleeveless T-Shirts or Muscle Shirts); Casual Pants, Jeans
  • Ballroom Classes – Short or Long Sleeve Shirts; Casual Pants (preferably no jeans)

Cruise Ship & Other Opportunities

Cruise ships offer many opportunities for Single Dance Hosts, such as free cruises (including room and board) in exchange for services, or can be hired as part of the Entertainment crew. To be eligible, dance hosts must be single, divorced or widowed, have passed Police Background checks and/or provide Personal References.

For those not looking to cruise, you can also offer your services as a Dance Only Host at Social Dance Events for a fee.

First Steps – “Dance Ambassador”

danceScape has launched an initial Basic Training for Single Men as a “Dance Ambassador” to start the process of learning the fundamentals of Ballroom and Salsa/Latin Dancing steps, and to gain the initial skill and confidence in Leading many different partners!

In order to join danceScape formally as a Gentleman Dance Host, candidates would receive initial fundamentals training as a “Dance Ambassador”. This Basic Training consists of:

• In-Studio and/or Virtual/Webinar Training.
• Priority complimentary access to select In-Studio “Beginners” Group Classes.
• Complimentary access to Class Video Replays/Tutorials (password protected) for extra practising in the comfort of your own home.
• Priority List on danceScape’s “Call List” to Practice/Partner with Single Ladies Registered Each Term in our Beginners classes (e.g., Spring, Fall, Winter, Bootcamps). This opportunity enables Dance Host Student Candidates to develop “Dance Leading” mastery skills, which always take more time to develop.
• Assistance in Discovering & Defining your Fashion Style, where we can meet you online virtually to provide guidance on how to mix and match clothing in your wardrobe, as well as accompany on Shopping Adventures at various local retailers, whether budget or more high end. For grooming, we also have access to the best Barbers in the area to test out new hair styles.

For those interested in fast-tracking their Dance Host Skills, danceScape also offers:

• Preferred Discounts of up to 40% on Intermediate/Advanced “Open Variations” Group Classes.
• Preferred Discounts on Group Syllabus Classes (e.g., PreBronze, Bronze, Silver, Gold) and other Specialty Group Programs (e.g., Advanced Leading/Following, Technique, Men’s Dance Styling).
• Preferred Discounts on Private Coaching/Lessons.
• Opportunities to Share Private Coaching/Lessons Costs with other Single Lady Students.

This time-limited launch opportunity is open to single Men in various age groups – e.g., 20s-30s, 40s-50s, and 60+. Learn in-studio at our downtown Burlington location (2077 Pine Street at Pearl). Receive personalized training from Robert Tang & Beverley Cayton-Tang and practice with our supportive community of Single Ladies.

Dance Host Certification Program (In Development)

Please note that Completing danceScape’s Basic Training as a “Dance Ambassador” does NOT make you an official Dance Host.

We are in the process of developing an official Dance Host Certification Program for those who may wish to be an official host at danceScape, which may include police background checks. Once this program is developed, we will reach out to Basic Training Student Candidates with a further opportunity to participate in Certification.
