Thank you for joining us in the Celebration of the life of Edna Cayton on Friday, February 3rd, 2023, 1:30-3:30pm at Port Nelson United Church, 3132 South Drive, Burlington.
The Service began at 1:30 pm in the church sanctuary, followed by a reception. Cremation had already taken place. Thank you for your kind messages of sympathy and donations to a charity of your choice.
We honoured the memory of both Mum/Nanna/Edna and Dad/Grand-dad/Derek, who sadly passed away at the age of 85 in 2015. Our parents’/grandparents’ legacy of moving to a new country to give their family a better life continues and we are forever grateful for their decision. We will remember both of them on this special day, as they were married on this day 72 years ago, and Mum would have been 93 on February 5th. Thanks so much for dressing in Edna’s signature style — anything animal print — to honour her memory!

A TIME of of Synchronicity … sometimes, life takes unexpected twists and turns. As I was opening the front door to get the car, there was a sudden flurry of flaps and whistle of wings of what looked like more than a dozen Mourning Doves on the front garden area to the left and right of the doors. I couldn’t get the cell phone out fast enough to capture this surprising sight as they flew off to the side, with some onto the side rooftop, fence, and garage. There were still a few on the ground near the Buddha ornament.
And what should we see at the Celebration of Life, the table that was to be used to showcase Edna & Derek’s memories was a beautiful painting of Mourning Doves. Hours after returning from the Celebration of Life, as we were getting out of the car, a flurry of Canada Geese flew right over us. Again, rushing to get the Cell Phone and catching them as they flew off into the distance.
Cherishing these synchronic and meaningful moments with Rachael & Beverley. These patterns of unexpected fleeting moments that occur once – sometimes many times – in a lifetime give hope to another plane of existence that one day we will flow through and reunite, while living, learning and loving in this lifetime.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3
